As the sun sets behind the mountains, the Yellow River flows into the sea.

If one's vision could reach a thousand miles, one would ascend even higher.

Lonely grass on the ancient plain, withering and flourishing year by year.

Wildfire may not consume it all, as the spring breeze brings life again.

In front of my bed, the moonlight shines, casting a frostlike glow on the ground.

I lift my head and gaze at the moon, while memories of my homeland weigh upon me.

With the wind howling and the sky vast, the apes lament mournfully.

The clear lakes and white sands witness the birds returning.

Countless falling leaves descend relentlessly, and the mighty Yangtze River flows ceaselessly.

Traveling thousands of miles, I am frequently a destitute guest, plagued by illness for many years.

Struggling through hardships, I am filled with sorrow and aging prematurely, abandoning my wine cup.

When will the bright moon appear? I raise my wine cup and ask the blue sky.

I know not in which celestial palace it resides, nor the year and date.

I desire to ride the wind and return home, yet I fear the lofty towers and magnificent halls,

For they are too cold at such heights.

I dance, casting a clear shadow, as if I were not in this mortal realm!

I wander through crimson chambers and beneath embroidered curtains, with the everwatching moon as my only companion.

There should be no resentment, why do we often see the full moon when bidding farewell?

People experience joys and sorrows, partings and reunions, while the moon waxes and wanes,

Such is an eternal cycle hard to alter.

May we all live long and share the beauty of the moon, even though we may be thousands of miles apart.
